Privacy Policy
PalmPoll is a tool for asking one question and getting anonymous answers. This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and why.
The short version
We don't know who voted in any poll. We don't track you across the web. We don't run analytics, we don't set cookies, and we don't sell data. PalmPoll is free during beta. When we introduce paid plans, subscriptions will be our only source of income.
If you answer a poll (voters)
We do not collect any personal information from you.
When you submit an answer, we store only your answer, the poll it belongs to, and the time it was submitted. There is no name, email, account, IP address or device identifier attached to it. Nobody, including the poll's author and including us, can tell which answer came from you.
Two technical points, for completeness:
- To stop automated abuse, our servers briefly count requests per internet address. This counter is held for 60 seconds and then deleted automatically. It is never stored in our database and never linked to an answer.
- To keep you from voting twice by accident, your browser stores a small marker locally saying you've already answered that poll. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
If you create a poll (authors)
We store your email address, which you use to sign in, and the polls you create along with the answers they receive. That's all. We don't ask for your name, and we don't require a password.
We use your email address only to send sign-in codes and, if necessary, to contact you about your account or the service. We won't send you marketing email.
AI summaries
If your poll has open-ended answers, you can ask PalmPoll to summarize them. When you do, those answers are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, which generates the summary and returns it. The summary is shown to you and can be downloaded, but it is not stored on our servers. It is generated fresh each time you ask for one.
Where your data is stored
PalmPoll's database is hosted with Supabase in the United States (us-east-1 region). Our website and servers run on Cloudflare's global network, which means requests may be handled by a server near you.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run PalmPoll:
- Supabase — database hosting and sign-in
- Cloudflare — website hosting, servers and abuse protection
- Anthropic — AI summaries of open-ended answers, when you request one
- Resend — sending sign-in codes. Like any email provider, Resend keeps delivery records of the emails it sends, including the recipient address.
We don't share data with anyone else, and we don't sell data to anyone, ever.
Deleting your data
When you delete a poll, it is deleted permanently, along with every answer it received. This can't be undone. Deleting your polls is the fastest way to remove your poll data.
Signing in also creates a record of your email address with our authentication provider, and that record is separate from your polls. If you want it removed as well, write to privacy@palmpoll.com and we'll delete it.
Children
You must be 13 or older to create a poll on PalmPoll. Answering a poll collects no personal information, so people of any age can answer one.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
